Filipodia is now a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

Filipodia Publishing LLC became an Associate Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on April 24, 2023, based upon our dedicated and ongoing mission of promoting and protecting ethics in scholarly publishing.

https://publicationethics.org/members/filipodia-publishing-llc

In our professional editing services, Filipodia editors and administration educate and guide our author, journal and publisher clients in the standards and norms of publication ethics. This is especially critical as we are facing the widespread societal tragedy of misinformation and distrust in bona fide scientific research and medical findings.

Filipodia is pleased to announce Cristal Sandhaus joining our administrative team. She will primarily handle BPG copy-editing assignments, working in tandem with Donna. You may reach her through our general BPG-project email account: bpg@filipodia.com.

Cristal’s kind spirit, quick thinking and careful organization skills will help keep Filipodia’s forward trajectory on track. We are looking forward to her many future successes as she integrates into the Filipodia administrative team.

Patient-first language

One of our editors (whose career service has been in the top government agencies that serve important international roles in public health and regulatory operations and policy) has shared with us the following updated language guidance in scientific and clinical writing that respects patients’ individual rights and dignity:

There has been a shift to using Patient-First Language to recognize that patients are people first and not defined by the diseases or disorders they are experiencing.

For example, instead of saying “HCC patients,” please change the text to read “patients with HCC”.

Filipodia supports this Patient-First Language and encourages its editors to follow suit in their service.
